Rusty Skud should be in the box of every fly fisherman, it’s one of the colors that you must have.
It is difficult to choose the perfect dubbing to tie a good scud, therefore we often mix different kinds.
The basis here is the Hare’s Ear Plus Dubbin, which has a small addition of antrone, however, I wanted to increase the transparency and added Polar Dub dubbing (also from Hareline). This whole procedure makes the scud more realistic.
Materials:
Hook: Hanak 300BL no. 14
Thread: UNI 8/0 Rusty Brown
Body: lead wire + mix of Hareline dubbings (Hare’s Ear Plus Dubbin Rusty Orange, Polar Dub Rust, Dark Shade Rainbow Scud Dub)
Back: pearl foil + monofilament line
